FIRST-YEAR LACROSSE PROGRAM TO HOST FIRST GAME OF SEASON

Weston, Mass.—Saturday, March 20 at noon will mark the first match of the Regis College men’s lacrosse program. Under the direction of head coach Jacob Kravitz, Regis will host The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Curry College on the Pride’s newly constructed multi-sport turf field.

For many of the men’s team members Saturday will be their first collegiate game, which can be filled with pre-game nervousness. “We work a lot of fun into practice,” said Kravitz. Game-like situations help to ease the nervousness going into game situations he implied.

With a team mixed with few upperclassmen, and a majority of first-year players, Kravitz’s expectations are more on the moral victory side of winning. “My number one expectation is that each one of my guys walks off the field having put in 100 percent effort,” Kravitz said.

“I also expect them to have fun, and surprise a few people by putting up some wins.”

With 12 games scheduled for this year against some talented and experienced programs, Kravitz said, “The bottom line is that we think our talent can help us…”

The men’s program competed at club level last year, and has faced some programs of equal quality since then in preparation for its varsity schedule. Six of Regis’ games will be versus TCCC opponents.
