Pride Student-Athletes Honored for Service to Campus Community

WESTON, Mass. – During the week of April 27, the Regis College Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment announced the recipients of its various annual awards, with several Pride student-athletes among the honorees.

Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) of the women's tennis team received the Student Affairs Leadership Award in part for her work as President of the Student Government Association, while teammate Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) was also recognized for her work within the organization with the Dedication to SGA Award. Brian Wagner (Melrose, Mass.) of the men's lacrosse team was one of five students campus-wide to be named a recipient of the Senior Leadership and Service Award, and softball player Madi McLellan (Fremont, N.H.) was honored with the Leadership in Athletics Award.

Dimitri Stewart (Paterson, N.J.) of the men's volleyball team was recognized with the Student Engagement Award and for completing the Leadership for Social Change co-curricular program this spring. He was also named a Pillar of the Community along with fellow student-athletes Logan Bateman (Claremont, N.H.) and Michael Daras (Danvers, Mass.) of the men's lacrosse team, Freddie Beckmann (Franklin, Mass.) from men's soccer, Grant Kollien (Acton, Mass.) of the men's swimming and diving team, Luinet Melendez (Ponce, Puerto Rico) from women's volleyball, Erin Murphy (Bedford, N.H.) of the softball team, and Arie Searcy (Santa Rosa, Calif.) from women's basketball.

Besides Stewart, five other current student-athletes were part of the Leadership for Social Change Spring 2020 Cohort: Juila Burke (North Andover, Mass.) of the women's swimming and diving team, field hockey player Jamie Juskiewicz (Gorham, Maine), Lizzy Melvin (Southington, Conn.) from women's cross country and track and field, Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.) from the men's track and field team, and Ells Mine Saint Paul (Marlborough, Mass.) of the women's tennis team. Saint Paul and Santiago Pedraza Novak (Bogota, Colombia) of the men's soccer team were two of 13 Regis freshmen to be named Rising Star Award recipients.

The Regis College Department of Athletics emphasizes academic excellence, commitment to service, competition on the national level, and the principles of good sportsmanship. As a Division III member of the NCAA, Regis enables student-athletes to integrate and balance their athletics experience with academic interests and other co-curricular activities.
