Haselhun, Norton Set Schools Records at Loeschner Memorial Invite

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Regis men's and women's track and field teams took part in the 2016 Eric Loeschner Memorial Invitational, hosted by Fitchburg State University on Saturday at Elliot Field. It was a fruitful event for the Pride who saw a handful of top performances, personal bests and two new school records.

Sophomore Julia Haselhun (Carlsbad, Calif.) set a new school record in the women's long jump with a 5.12-meter DIII New England qualifying mark. On the men's side, junior Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) broke his own school record, running the 800-meter in 1:58.71.

Amanda Iandoli (Mansfield, Mass.) had quite a day of her own, setting a personal best in the 800-meter with a time of 2:42. Kate Cowden (Wilmington, Mass.) had a personal best of her own in the shot put with a mark of 11.17 meters. Also, freshman Cassandra Froio (Tewksbury, Mass.) ran the 100-meter in 14.29.

Freshman Taylor Garner (Richmond, Vt.) just missed qualifying for the New England Championships in the hammer throw (41.14m).

Both teams return to action next Saturday, April 23 at the MIT Invitational in Cambridge.
