TONS OF RECORDS FALL AT PRIDE INVITE

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's track and field team hosted the Pride Classic today on the outdoor track on a cloudy and windy day at Regis Stadium. 19 personal records and four school records were broken on the day as well as one athlete qualified for the New England Division III Championships.

During the meet, Pride seniors Chandler Davies (Hartford, Conn.), Paul Gionfriddo (Burlington, Conn.), Jeremy Israel (Randolph, Mass.) and Owen McQuaid (Marlborough, Mass.) were honored for their contributions to the track and field program and the Regis College athletic department.

For the women, Mikayla Mooney (Guilford, Conn.) ended her campaign with a three second personal best in the 800 meter run to win her heat. Amanda Iandoli (Mansfield, Mass.) set a personal record in the 800 meter with a time of 2:47. Rachel Wood (Manchester, N.H.) also competed with her teammate in the 800 meter and finished the race with a best time of 2:52. Kylie Homem (Peabody, Mass.) set a personal record in the 200 meter run by .3 seconds with a time of 32.09. Kerri Jones (Uxbridge, Mass.) also had a fine day as she set a personal record in the 400 meter with a time of 65.16.

In the discus event, Kate Cowden (Wilmington, Mass.) set a personal record with a throw of 107 feet and two inches while teammate Ayesha Malhi (Merrimac, Mass.) also had a best throw of 100 feet.

For the men, Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) set two personal records the first was in the field during the high jump event as he cleared 6'2 and qualified for the New England Division III Championships. Norton also threw the javelin 42.84 meters. Teammate Joe Greco (Oxford, Conn.) set a personal record in the javelin by hurling it 38.42 meters and ran the 400 meter in 51.65.

Junior Jonathan Paul (Medford, Mass.) took 37 seconds off his time in the 1500 meter race by crossing the finish line in 4:30. Owen McQuaid also competed in the 1500 and set a personal record finishing the race in 4:39. Chandler Davies rounded out a strong showing for the men by finishing the 200 meter in 23.76 which was his best time this season.

The Pride return to action this Saturday, May 2nd for the New England Division III Championships hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at 11:00 a.m.
