STRONG SHOWING AT GORDON KELLY INVITE

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College Men's Women's Track & Field Team headed back to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and competed at the Gordon Kelly Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Cambridge, Mass.

In the field events, freshman thrower Ryan Richards (Pembroke, Mass.) broke the school record and qualified for the New England Division III by throwing the shot put 13.68 meters.

On the track, junior sprinter Joe Greco (Oxford, Conn.) placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.04. Greco also competed in the 200 meter run and finished with a time of 23.80. Senior runner Owen McQuaid (Marlborough, Mass.) and sophomore Sean Laprise (Medford, Mass.) ran in the 800 meter race. McQuaid completed the event with a time of 2:20.28, while Laprise finished behind him with a time of 2:22.25.

On the women's side, sophomore Kylie Homem (Pembroke, Mass.) shattered her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 11.15. Junior sprinter Diana Tran (Somerville, Mass.) ran the 400 meter dash and achieved a personal best time of 1:12.94. Freshman Molly Curtin (Brockton, Mass.) competed in the 3,000 meter run and broke her previous personal best by seven seconds, finishing the event in 12:04. Freshman sprinter Zaria Powell (Framingham, Mass.) improved her time in the 60 meter dash by finishing the sprint in 8.77. Freshman sprinter Kerri Jones (Uxbridge, Mass.) rounded out the Pride's strong showing on the track by finishing the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.21.

Both teams return to action next Saturday when the Pride head out to Springfield College to compete in the New England Division III Championships with start time slated for 11:00 a.m.
