REGIS TRACK HOSTS ANNUAL PRIDE CLASSIC

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College hosted its annual Pride Classic on Sunday afternoon and celebrated its three seniors, Tori Rapsis (Nashua, N.H.), Sarah Schow (Southborough, Mass.), and Katherine Warner (Shrewsbury, Mass.) in a ceremony during the event.

Nearly 20 different schools competed during the day, with the Pride having a very strong meet.

On the women's side, Diana Tran (Somerville, Mass.) posted a time of 14.69 in the 100m dash, while Nicole Church (Apex, N.C.) and Talia Minichiello (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished just behind each other with times of 15.87 and 15.99, respectively. Katherine Warner posted the top time in the 200m dash with a 30.08, with Tran running a 30.82.

Kylie Homem (Peabody, Mass.) ran the 100m hurdles in 19.70, while Warner cleared 2.61m in the pole vault. Nina Dow (Grafton, Mass.) wrapped up the day for the Pride tossing the shot put 6.87m.

For the men, Matt Owens (Boston, Mass.) picked up a win in the 100m dash (11.26) and added a second place finish in the 200m with a time of 23.22. Chandler Davies (Hartford, Conn.) ran the 100m in 11.93, while Alex Tran (Lawrence, Mass.) posted a time of 12.53. Davies added a time of 23.90 in the 200m as well.

Jeremy Israel (Boston, Mass.) ran the 400m in 50.28 en route to a first place finish, while Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) and Joe Greco (Oxford, Conn.) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, with times of 52.40 and 52.56. Owen McQuaid (Marlborough, Mass.) and Sean LaPrise (Medford, Mass.) ran the 800m for the Pride posting times of 2:18.63 and 2:27.10. The Pride's 4x400m relay team finished second in the event with a time of 3:32.20.

In the field events, Matt Norton cleared 1.75m in the high jump, while Ray Grasso (Orange, Mass.) jumped 13.07m in the triple jump for a second place finish. Paul Gionfriddo (Burlington, Conn.) threw the shot put 12.62m in the final, and tossed the discus 34.65m for a third place finish.

Regis is back in action next Saturday as the Pride travel to Springfield College for the New England Division III Championships.
