REGIS CRACKS TOP 10 IN 8 EVENTS AT DAVIS INVITE

LOWELL, Mass. - The Regis College track and field teams made some noise at the George Davis Invitational, hosted by UMass Lowell on Saturday. The Pride captured eight top-ten finishes throughout the day in a meet that featured schools from Division I, II, and III.

Leading the way were Tori Rapsis (Nashua, N.H.) and Matt Owens (Boston, Mass.), who each took home first place in their respective events. Rapsis cleared 10 feet in the pole vault, while Owens ran a time of 11.21 in the 100 m dash.

Owens was also part of the 4 x 100 Relay which took second place after a 44.15 finish.Ray Grasso (Orange, Mass.), Chandler Davies (Hartford, Conn.), and Matt Norton(Weymouth, Mass.) also ran a leg in the race. Grasso, Davies, and Norton then teamed up with Jeremy Israel (Boston, Mass.) in the 4 x 400 Relay, which placed third after a time of 3:28.75.

Individually, Grasso placed eighth in the 400 m hurdles with a time of 58.33, while Israel finished second in the 400 m dash (50.92). Norton just missed out on the top ten in the 400m dash after coming in with a time of 53.47.

Paul Gionfriddo (Burlington, Conn.) also wrapped up a ninth place finish after throwing 13.00m in the shot put, while the Pride's Kylie Homem (Peabody, Mass.) was tenth in the 100 m hurdles (20.07).

Diana Tran (Somerville, Mass.) competed in the 100 m dash (14.84) and the 200 m dash (31.24), while Sarah Schow (Southborough, Mass.) took part in the one mile (6:04.75) to highlight some of the day's other performances.

After a weekend off, Regis will host the annual Pride Classic Invitational on Sunday, April 27. Events are set to begin at 10 a.m.
