REGIS OPENS OUTDOOR SEASON AT BRIDGEWATER STATE

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Regis College men's and women's track and field teams opened up the 2014 outdoor campaign with a duel meet at Bridgewater State University on Saturday.

Jeremy Israel (Boston, Mass.) and Ray Grasso (Orange, Mass.) each scored second place finishes in their respective events to lead the Pride. Israel sprinted the 400m in a time of 51.11, while Grasso recorded a distance of 12.62 m in the triple jump. 

Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) picked up a fourth place finish for the Pride in the 400m with a time of 2:07.92 and Paul Gionfriddo (Burlington, Conn.) came in fifth in the shot put after throwing a distance of 12.99m.

Chandler Davies (Hartford, Conn.) rounded out the top ten individual finishes with a time of 24.51 in the 200m.

The Pride also competed in the 4x400m Relay and took second in the event (3:33.10).

Senior Sarah Schow (Southborough, Mass.) had the top finish of the meet for the Regis women after she raced to a 2:55.47 finish in the 800 m. Nina Dow (Grafton, Mass.) and Diana Tran (Somerville, Mass.) each had solid performances as well, with Dow throwing 6.43 in the shot put and Tran racing to a 16.19 finish in the 100 m dash. 

The Crimson & Gold return to the track next Saturday for the Snowflake Classic at Tufts University. The meet is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
