SEVERAL PRIDE RECORDS FALL AT MIT INVITE

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Three Regis College school records were broken on Saturday afternoon as the Pride men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Cambridge, Mass. for the MIT Invite.

Jeremy Israel (Boston, Mass.) broke the school record in the 600m with a time of 1:27.06 with a second place finish, while his teammate Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) broke the school record in the mile (4:48.79), coming in third.

Matt Owens (Boston, Mass.) posted a time of 7.23 and Don Gomez (Lynn, Mass.) ran a 7.41 as both finished in the top five in the 60m, while Owens added a third place finish in the 200m with a time of 23.61. Ray Grasso (Orange, Mass.) finished third in the 400m (54.60) and Paul Gionfriddo (Burlington, Conn.) finished fourth in the shot put (12.01).

Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.) had another record-setting weekend as the freshman broke the Regis record in the 3K with a time of 11:38.97 and took home first place. She also added a second place finish in the 1K, posting a time of 3:21.50.

Santi Strickland (Holbrook, Mass.) ran an 8.66 in the 60m, while Diana Tran (Somerville, Mass.) and Tori Rapsis (Nashua, N.H.) both ran in the 200m, finishing right behind each other with times of 31.12 and 31.16.

Both teams are back in action next Saturday when the Pride travels to Tufts University for the Tufts Stampede starting at 10:00 a.m.
