Regis Drops to Simmons, 10-6

BRIGHTON, Mass. - Regis College fell to Simmons University, 10-6, on Friday, March 29, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse matchup at Daly Field.

Simmons scored the first two goals less than six minutes into the match, but Regis answered 36 seconds after the second goal as Kylee Marley (Westerly, R.I.) notched an unassisted goal. The Sharks scored three more goals to finish the first quarter ahead, 5-1.

The Sharks added offensive insurance in the second quarter scoring three goals just before the Pride responded, earning a free position attempt on a Sharks foul. Mia Rogers (Revere, Mass.) scored the second goal of the match for the Pride on a free position shot. Lauren Krupnikoff scored her second goal of the game to extend the Sharks lead to 8-2 at halftime.

After a goal from Frida Turriza to start the third quarter, Regis scored back-to-back goals to outscore the Sharks 2-1 in the third quarter. Hope Alto (Boston, Mass.)  connected with Molly Higgins (Weymouth, Mass.) to find the back of the net at 3:22. Just 19 seconds later, Alto had an unassisted player-up goal to finish out the third quarter trailing by four.

Alto scored the first goal of the fourth quarter, just before Madeline Conover (West Newbury, Mass.) took a free position shot to score a player-up goal. The Sharks put up another goal in the final two minutes to finish with a final of 10-6.

Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) started in net and making eight saves for the Pride. Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) started the second half, making six saves on eight shots, to finish the game with a .750 save percentage.

Alto led the Pride with two goals and one assist, while Higgins, Marley, Rogers, and Conover coined one goal each.

Campbell Crane earned a hat trick for the Sharks, while Krupnikoff and Turriza scored two goals each.

Regis (6-3, 2-2 GNAC) is scheduled to travel to Johnson and Wales University on Tuesday, April 2, at 5:00 p.m. Simmons (5-6, 3-2 GNAC) is set to travel to face New England College on Tuesday, April 2, at 4:00 p.m.
