2021-22 Senior Spotlight - Women’s Lacrosse

WESTON, Mass. – Prior to the April 26 home match against Elms College, two members of the women's lacrosse team were recognized for their significant contributions to the Pride program.

Julia Burke (Barrington, N.H.) joined the women's lacrosse team in 2020 and is also a four-year letterwinner for the swimming and diving program. She appeared in eight matches for the Pride this past season, including three starts. At the Athletics Awards Ceremony, she received the prestigious Regis-Casserly Award for excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, and service. Burke received her bachelor's degree in cybersecurity and criminal justice and is on her way to the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law.

Courtney Duggan, head women's lacrosse coach, said, "Julia has been a welcome addition to our team culture and exemplifies the work ethic we encourage all our student-athletes to aspire to show. Thank you Julia for taking a chance on Regis Lacrosse, and for the countless hours you gave in individual sessions to work to improve your skills. Even in limited time with us, you committed yourself to doing what was asked and we are a better team for it. Good luck in law school and beyond!"

Kate Flemming (Woburn, Mass.) also joined the women's lacrosse team in 2020 and appeared in the home match against Salem State that season. This past year, she started all 16 matches for the Pride, earning three goals and four assists. She picked up her first career points in the March 12 victory at Albertus Magnus with a goal and an assist. Kate is also a four-year letterwinner for the volleyball team and was secretary of the Regis Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Kate received her nursing degree at Commencement in May.

Duggan said, "Though our time together was short, I appreciate the energy, commitment, and passion that Kate brought to Regis Lacrosse. A versatile player, Kate was willing and able to jump into any position the team needed without hesitation. Kate consistently brought her best every day and took advantage of every opportunity to make our program better. Thank you Kate!"

The women's lacrosse team is one of 20 intercollegiate sports sponsored by Regis College within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference as a Division III member of the NCAA.
