Women's Lacrosse Dominates Mitchell In NECC Opener

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) women's lacrosse team opened up league play with a bang, dominating Mitchell by a score of 20-5 in New England Collegiate Conference action Saturday at Regis Stadium. The Pride continue its historic season-opening start by improving to 6-0 while Mitchell drops to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference.

Erin Loehner (Danvers, Mass.) and Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.) both scored three goals and tallied two assists in the big win. Brooke Ross (Hanover, Mass.) contributed two goals and three assists with Danielle Aguinaldo (Malden, Mass.) adding two goals and two assists.

Kate McCormack (Narragansett, R.I.) had three goals to lead Mitchell with Ashley Murtha (South Windsor, Conn.) adding two more.

Regis jumped on Mitchell early, opening up a 10-1 lead not even half way through the first half. Aguinaldo and Loehner both scored back-to-back goals with Loehner adding a third to help the Pride to a 15-2 halftime lead.

Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) earned the win in net for the Pride, playing the first half and making four saves while Olivia Maggio (West Windsor, N.J.) played the final 30 minutes and tallied five saves.

Gillian MacLellan played the entire 60 minutes in net for Mitchell, recording 11 saves on 31 Pride shots.

Regis is next in action Wednesday, Mar. 29 in a non-conference tilt against Saint Joseph's (ME) at Regis Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Mitchell next hosts Dean the same day with its start time set at 3:30 p.m.
