Women’s Lacrosse Tops Bay Path On Senior Day

WESTON, Mass.Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) and Taylor Assarian (Arlington, Mass.) both scored hat tricks and the Regis College women's lacrosse team secured a perfect league record New England Collegiate Conference record with a 20-1 Senior Day win over Bay Path Saturday at Regis Stadium.

Prior to the game Regis seniors Sam Salamone, Sierra Luce (Hartford, Vt.), Mary Roma (Portland, Maine), Emma Decker (Southborough, Mass.) and Rachel Gagnon (Ashford, Conn.) were honored with a special Senior Day ceremony.

The Pride concluded the regular season 10-6 overall and 7-0 in the league play, earning the top seed and a first-round bye in next week's NECC Championship Tournament. They open tournament play Thursday, April 28 at Regis Stadium at 4:00 p.m. against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.

Bay Path closes the season at 0-11 overall and 0-7 in league play.

Regis scored early and often with 14 goals before halftime. Salamone got all her goals within the first eight minutes of the game to help the Pride to a 6-0 lead with 22:05 remaining in the half. Assarian went on a scoring spree midway through the first half, netting all three of her scores during a 6:23 span.

Decker nearly posted a shutout but gave a up a late goal when Elana Helming (Maplewood, N.J.) scored with 2:37 play in the game. Decker would finish with five saves on six shots.

Milan Lytle (Washington, D.C.) had her hands full on net for Bay Path, making eight saves off 28 Pride shots.
