PRIDE FALL TO ENGINEERS IN FIRST EVER TOURNEY GAME

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Regis College women's lacrosse team suffered a 19-5 loss at the hands of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the First Round of the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament at Kohn Field on Saturday afternoon. This was the Crimson and Gold's first ever NCAA Tournament bid as the Pride finished the season at 13-6.

MIT came out firing, scoring five times in the first 4:15 of the game. Emily Young and Hannah Levy each scored two straight to give the Engineers an 8-0 advantage with 21:51 left in the first half. The lead grew to 12 before Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) cut to the middle and scored at the 1:37 mark to put Regis on the board. MIT added a late goal to take a 13-1 lead into the intermission.

Regis came out strong in the second half, scoring the first three goals. Sierra Luce (Hartford, Vt.) took a feed from Salamone and found the back of the net on a nice spin move before Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) and Teresa Busiek (Arlington, Mass.) each converted free positions to make it a 13-4 game with 20:23 remaining.

Nadia Wallace answered for MIT before Busiek drove to the middle and scored to cut the lead to 14-5. MIT clamped down on defense and scored the game's final five goals on its way to the win.

Isabella Didio scored a game-high four goals to pace MIT, while Levy finished with three goals and three assists and Young added three tallies. Kristyn Berretta, Katie Notarangelo and Kira Schott each scored twice. Notarangelo added three ground balls and four draw controls in the contest, while Didio had three of each. Eva Bohl finished with three saves in goal.

Busiek scored twice to pace Regis, while Salamone had a goal and assist to go along with six ground balls. Emma Decker finished with five saves in goal.

MIT held a 30-13 shots advantage in the game, winning 19-26 draws.
