SALAMONE, POLITIS FUEL REGIS WIN OVER DALLAS, 14-7

DALLAS, Texas - Four goals and two assists apiece from Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) and Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) proved to be too much for the University of Dallas to handle, as the Regis College women's lacrosse team defeated the Crusaders, 14-7 on Saturday afternoon. The Pride improve to 1-1 on the young season, while Dallas falls to 1-4.

The offense came alive right out of the gates for the Pride, who jumped to a quick 4-0 lead less than five minutes into the game, with goals coming from Salamone, Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.), Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.), and Liz Belinsky (Wayland, Mass.).

Mikayla Tolley (Colorado Springs, Colo.) would score two of her three goals for the Crusaders in the first half to get her team on the board, but Politis and Salamone combined for the next five of Regis' goals to push their lead to 9-3 by halftime.

The second half opened up with Burns scoring her second goal of the game to make the score 10-3. Just 35 seconds later, Dallas' Irene Harris (Cockeysvile, Md.) scored to make it 10-4.

Regis responded with four unanswered goals for a commanding 14-4 lead. During that stretch, Politis and Salamone scored their fourth goals of the game, while Walls notched her second and Adena Joseph (Stoughton, Mass.) scored her lone goal of the game.

Dallas closed out the game scoring three straight goals, coming from Tolley, Julianna Rossi (Sammamish, Wash.) and Mary Salotto (Salt Lake City, Utah), who finished with two goals on the day, for the final 14-7 score.

Regis returns to Weston, Mass. for a four game homestand, which begins with Emmanuel (Mass.) on March 13 at 6:00 p.m.
