DiCENSO SCORES SEVEN IN PRIDE WIN

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College junior attacker Chelsey Grabowski (South Hadley, Mass.) scored three goals, but Regis College received a seven-goal effort from Tana DiCenso (Framingham, Mass.) to help pace the Pride to a 14-4 victory over the Blazers in Monday evening's non-conference women's lacrosse game at Leary Field. With the loss, Elms falls to 2-6 on the season, while Regis improves to 2-7 overall.

Regis roared out to an early 7-0 lead in the first 17:35 as Teresa Busiek (Arlington, Mass.) fired in four scores and DiCenso added two before Elms' junior attacker Emily Walsh (Hadley, Mass.) broke up the stretch with a goal at the 7:33 mark to set the score at 7-1.

Busiek then netted her fifth tally of the period and DiCenso scored another to give the Pride a 9-1 lead at halftime.

DiCenso scored on a free position shot 7:56 into the second frame before Grabowski scored the first of her three goals to make the score 10-2.

DiCenso added two more goals to give Regis a 12-2 cushion with 12:33 remaining in the contest before Grabowski found the back of the net again at the 8:58 mark to pull the Blazers to within nine at 12-3. Busiek then delivered a pass to Lindsey Graver (Bellingham, Mass.) who scorched the net for her second score of the game - and second goal off a feed from Busiek - to lift the Pride's lead to 14-3.

Grabowski capped the scoring with under one minute to play in the game to cut the deficit to 10 goals at 14-4.

Elms' junior goalkeeper Annette Dzidek (Chicopee, Mass.) notched 10 saves and suffered the loss to move to 2-6 on the season.

Walsh and Grabowski notched four groundballs each, while senior attacker Melissa Meon (South Hadley, Mass.) and junior midfielder Sarah Picard (West Springfield, Mass.) caused three turnovers apiece in the losing effort.

Busiek scooped up an impressive 18 groundballs and caused two turnovers, while Graver added five groundball pickups in the winning effort.

Regis' goalkeeper Alycia Murray (Danvers, Mass.) turned away seven shots and earned the win to improve to 1-0 on the season between the pipes.

Elms is back in action on Wednesday, April 6 with a New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) contest at Fitchburg State University. Game-time is slated for 4:00 p.m. in Fitchburg, Mass
