RYAN HAS SEVEN SAVES IN LOSS TO GOLDEN BEARS

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The Western New England College women’s lacrosse team defeated Regis College by the score of 18-0 Wednesday (Mar. 23). This was The Commonwealth Coast Conference opener for the Golden Bears who evened their record at 3-3. The Pride falls to 1-4 and 0-2 in TCCC play.

Freshman midfielder Teresa Busiek (Arlington, Mass./Arlington Catholic) led the Pride with four caused turnovers, four ground balls, and three draw controls. The Pride was led on defense by Meghan Ryan (Stow, Mass./Iona College) who had seven saves on the game. The Pride’s defense played better in the second half allowing the Golden Bears fewer opportunities to score.

Thirteen players scored goals with senior defender Nicole Poli(Medfield, MA) and sophomore defender Jillian Saley (Stratford, CT) each contributing two goals and two assists.

 

Senior attacker Nicole Squadrito (Ellington, CT) also scored twice while
sophomore defender Gina Johnson (Portland, ME) had a goal and two assists.

Senior Erin Doherty (Westford, MA) came off the bench and made two saves
in 48 minutes, 40 seconds to earn her first victory of the season.

The Pride’s next matchup is Saturday (Mar. 26) against New England College. The Golden Bears next matchup is Saturday (Mar. 26) against the University of New England.
