Men’s Track & Field Finishes Strong Second at GNAC Indoor Championships

BOSTON – The Regis College men's track and field team received several top performances on its way to a solid second place finish at the 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Sunday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Conrad Kalinowski (London, England) led the Pride with three All-GNAC performances, highlighted by his victory in the pole vault after clearing 4.33 meters (14' 2.5") on his second attempt, smashing his previous school record mark by 0.18 meters. Kalinowski also finished second in the shot put with a mark of 11.08 meters (36' 4.25") and in the weight throw with a mark of 10.72 meters (35' 2").

Harry Grayson (Lowell, Mass.) won the GNAC title in the long jump with a mark of 6.25 meters (20' 6.25"), followed by Justin Thuotte (Lebanon, Conn.) in second place at 6.22 meters (20' 5"). Grayson also placed second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.90 seconds, fourth in the 60 meter dash finals in 7.33 seconds, and fifth in the high jump after clearing 1.65 meters (5' 5").

Thuotte picked up his own GNAC title by winning the triple jump with a mark of 12.75 meters (41' 10") accomplished on his final attempt. He also finished second in the pole vault by clearing 2.80 meters (9' 2.25") and third in the high jump after sailing over the bar at 1.80 meters (5' 10.75").

Zachary Olayiwole (Marlborough, Mass.) finished second in the 200 meter dash, winning his heat with a time of 23.12 seconds. Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) also earned a second place finish in the 800 meter run in 2:03.91, and Brett Kiesel (Rocky Hill, Conn.) posted another All-GNAC performance with a third place finish in the shot put at 10.90 meters (35' 9.25").

Aiden Charles (Lowell, Mass.) finished third in the 60 meter hurdles for All-GNAC honors with a time of 9.43 seconds. In the weight throw, Ed Power (Lynn, Mass.) finished in fifth place with a mark of 9.27 meters (30' 5"), followed by Danny Skinner (Natick, Mass.) in sixth place at 8.65 meters (28' 4.5").

In the 400 meter dash, Riley Stogsdill (San Diego, Calif.) won his heat and finished fourth overall with a time of 51.72 seconds. Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) crossed the finish line in sixth place in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:42.76.

As a team, the Pride accumulated 128 points, finishing comfortably in second place 24 points in front of third place Colby-Sawyer College. Saint Joseph's College picked up the team championship after totaling 168 points during the day.

Select members of the Regis College track and field team will compete at the Wheaton Pre-Postseason Invitational Saturday, Feb. 18, starting at 10:30 a.m. Those who qualify will go on to the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at The Track at New Balance Feb. 24-25.
