Personal Records Fall at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Regis College men's track and field team spent Saturday afternoon competing at the Gordon Kelly Invitational hosted by MIT.

Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) placed second in the 1000 meter run, completing the race with a new personal record of 2:44.47. His teammate Sean Toomey (Salem, N.H.) finished behind him with a time of 2:57.06 for third.

The 400 meter dash saw success for the Pride as well as all three runners in the event broke their personal record. Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.) finished the race in 54.16 seconds, while Christian Hendricks (Edgewater, Md.) finished in 54.95 seconds. Nazih Lewis (Trenton, N.J.) also broke his personal record in the event with a time of 59.64 seconds.

Pastore and Lewis both broke their personal records in the 200 meter dash. Hendricks would participate in the 800 meter run and place fifth with a new personal record of 2:07.24.

The throwers would place two in the top 10 of the shot put. Daniel LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.) and Frank Pelleteri (Freeport, Maine) would place seventh and 10th, respectively. LaFlamme finished the event with a throw of 12.86 meters and Pelleteri with a throw of 12.59 meters.

Cole Anderson would lead the Pride in the weight throw, posting a throw of 13.60 meters to finish in 15th, and LaFlamme would finish behind him with a distance of 13.49 meters, ending up in 16th.

The Pride will return to action next weekend when they travel to Brunswick, Maine, to participate in the Bowdoin Invitational Saturday, Feb. 16.
