Regis Men Collect Several All-GNAC Honors at Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Regis College men's swimming and diving team collected several All-GNAC honors to remain in second place overall at the conclusion of the second day of the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday at the WPI Sports and Recreation Center.

Liam Austin (Boston, Mass.) earned his first career All-GNAC award with a third place finish in one meter diving with an 11-dive score of 327.15. Michael Zammuto (Burlington, Mass.) finished in fourth place after the finals with a score of 299.68.

Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa) added to his All-GNAC collection with a second place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.77 seconds. Aryaman Nagaraj (Watertown, Mass.) also earned a second place showing in the 50 backstroke with a time of 26.64 seconds, and then he came right back in the next event, finishing fifth in the 50 freestyle in 23.18 seconds.

Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) posted a fourth place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:19.65 as well as a sixth place finish in the 100 individual medley in 1:03.41. Samuel Madriz (Union, N.J.) finished seventh in the 100 IM with a time of 1:05.37.

The Pride men also finished second in both relays Saturday night, starting with the team of Zammuto, Madriz, Kim, and Werner in the 200 freestyle relay with an overall time of 1:40.77. The quartet of Werner, Madriz, Kim, and Nagaraj completed the 800 freestyle relay in 7:57.38.

Regis remains in second place in the team standings on the men's side with 137 points, far ahead of third place Colby-Sawyer. Norwich University is atop the leaderboard after two days with 370 points.

The third and final day of the 2024 GNAC Swimming and Diving Championships will commence Sunday, Feb. 4, with preliminaries at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 5 p.m.
