WINTHROP, Mass. – Sophomore Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week after winning two events, one in record fashion, at the Regis Invitational.

Pike won two individual events during the Regis Invitational Sunday, setting a new Regis Pool record during one of the victories. Pike won the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:27.57, 2.38 seconds faster than the previous pool record established six years ago.

He also won the 50 breaststroke in 30.58 seconds, almost two full seconds in front of his nearest competitor. In addition, Pike finished second in the 500 freestyle by just a half-second with a time of 5:01.81 as well as in the 1650 freestyle in 17:46.20, 32 seconds faster than his time in the mile at last year's Regis Invitational.

Pike has now received the GNAC Athlete of the Week award three times so far this season, as he was previously honored Oct. 14 and Nov. 25. He has been honored by the GNAC four times during his career after picking up Rookie of the Week honors Jan. 14, plus he was named NEISDA Male Swimmer of the Week Jan. 17.
