Brendan Pike Honored with Second GNAC Weekly Award of Season

WINTHROP, Mass. – Regis College sophomore Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) picked up Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season, as the league office announced the recipients of the weekly awards Monday.

Pike helped Regis defeat Saint Joseph's College in a dual meet Friday night. After posting a 50 breaststroke split of 31.23 seconds in the 200 medley relay, he won the 200 freestyle by 21/100ths of a second with a season-best time of 1:53.44, rallying in the final 50 yards for the victory. Pike also finished second in the 500 freestyle, earning another season-best time of 5:16.28.

This is Pike's second weekly award of the 2019-20 campaign, as he was previously honored Oct. 14 after winning three events in the Pride's season-opening dual meet against University of New England. Last year, Pike received Rookie of the Week recognition Jan. 14 after collecting two individual event victories in Regis' victory over Colby-Sawyer.

The Pride swimming and diving teams will host Elms College and Husson University in the Regis Invitational Sunday, Dec. 8, with separate finals sessions starting at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
