Joshua Unas Earns NEISDA Weekly Award

WESTON, Mass. – With a solid performance in different events last Saturday at the Roger Williams Invitational, senior Joshua Unas (Santa Clarita, Calif.) has been named the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Male Swimmer of the Week, announced Wednesday by the organization.

Unas started the day by swimming the breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay, posting a 50 breaststroke split of 29.19 seconds to help the Pride finish second in the event. He then finished fifth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:10.95 and 10th in the 500 freestyle in 5:24.15.

He posted his best individual finish of the day, touching the wall in third place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.81. He finished the day by competing in the second leg of the 400 freestyle relay, posting a 100 freestyle split of 52.73 seconds to help Regis finish third in the event.

This is the second straight week a Regis male swimmer has earned NEISDA Swimmer of the Week honors, as GianCarlos Banrey (Roslindale, Mass.) received the honor last week after his performance in the season opener against University of New England.

The Regis swimming and diving teams head to Bridgewater State to face the Bears Saturday, Oct. 27, starting at 2 p.m., with the Pride women also facing Eastern Connecticut State.
