Regis Swimming Lends a Helping Hand To Wellesley STARS

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) swimming and diving teams, in a continuing community service effort, welcomed the Wellesley STARS special needs team to the Regis Pool for a fun Sunday afternoon of aquatic activities.

A handful Wellesley STARS athletes, several who compete in the Massachusetts Special Olympics, took part in the activities. Members of the Regis swimming and diving teams held individual training sessions which finished with dives and jumps in the deep end of the pool.

"The swim team's experience in the pool is definitely one that will be remembered by all the participants," said Regis head coach James Sweeny. "I know that every member on our team was excited to help and have fun with the Wellesley STARS."

The Pride just completed its regular season on Saturday in a tri-meet versus Husson and Bridgewater State. Next up is the New England Championships from Feb. 15-18.
