Pride Swimming Lands Five On NEISDA All-Academic Team

2016-17 NEISDA All-Academic Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) men's and women's swimming & diving teams had five competitors named to the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association All-Academic Team, recently announced by NEISDA.

Rob Ekberg, Josh Unas and Bryan Johnson earned the honor from the men's side with Katherine Mariano and Lila Williams named to the women's team. It was Ekberg and Johnson's second NEISDA all-academic selection.

In order for a swimmer or diver to make the NEISDA All-Academic Team, the student-athlete must have completed a minimum of three semesters, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better and be a team member in good standing for the complete season.

The academic success is a culmination of a historic 2016-17 season by the Pride. Both the men's and women's teams finished in sixth place at last month's New England Championships, the highest in program history on the women's side and third highest for the men. The women's team scored points in the ECAC Championships for the first time in three years, while the men's team scored points for the fourth consecutive year. The men had the highest point total of any Division III school for the fourth straight year as well.

The teams combined to set 18 school records with the men responsible for 12 of the 18 records set this year. Four of the six set on the women's side were records previously set in the 1990s.
