Pride Swimming Concludes ECAC Championships With Relay Record

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Regis (Mass.) swimming and diving teams concluded the ECAC Open Swim & Dive Championships Sunday highlighted by the men's 400 yard relay team setting a new school record and the women's team scoring points for the first time in three years.

The 400 yard relay team of Cassidy Bastianelli (Newton, Mass.), Nick Rainville (Reading, Mass.), Bryan Johnson (Sudbury, Mass.) and Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) swam the race in 3:08.06 good for 10th place ahead of Virginia Military Institute. The time broke the previous record by a full second.

The women's team placed 18th overall but strong finishes during the three days qualified the Pride points in the final standings. The men's team finished 14th overall and the top Division III school for the third year running.

The US Naval Academy won both the men's and women's team competitions.

The weekend finished with eight previous Regis records falling and Pride head coach James Sweeney eclipsing 100 records broken during his 5-year tenure with both programs.
