PRIDE SWIMS TO SECOND PLACE FINISH AT GNAC CHAMPIONSHIP

BOSTON, Mass. – Regis College competed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship this past weekend held at Simmons College in Boston, Mass. The men's swimming and diving team finished as the runner up on the men's side while the women came in fifth in their half of the meet. Haley Bowen (Litchfield, Mass.) and Zack Earl (Mexico, N.Y.) each had strong meets for the Pride.

On the women's side, the Pride posted 85 points as Haley Bowen finished first in the 200 Breast – setting a new GNAC record – and finished second in the 50 and 100 Breast, and third in the 200 IM. The Pride captured a second place finish in the 200 Free Relay as the team of Yassyra Diaz (Dorchester, Mass.), Megan Kennelly (Milford, Mass.), Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass.) and Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) posted a time of 1:52.02.

For the men, Regis College posted 237 points as the runner's up, with a strong performance by Zack Earl who set three individual GNAC records, winning the 200 and 500 Free as well as the 1000 Free. Earl then teamed with Alex Graf (Newton, Mass.), Andy Laforest (Roslindale, Mass.) and Djordje Mandic (Portland, Maine) to post a first place finish and a new GNAC record in the 400 Free Relay.

Alex Graf also had a strong meet, posting first place finishes in the 100 Free, 100 Individual Medley, and 200 Individual Medley. Djordje Mandic added first place finishes in the 50 Free and 100 Back. All of Graf and Mandic's first place finishes set new GNAC records as the Pride also won 11 of the 20 events, most of any team in the competition.

Regis returns home on Friday, December 9th as the Pride will host UMass-Dartmouth in the Pride's first home meet of the year, starting at 5:00 p.m.
