PRIDE PREPARE TO FIGHT CANCER IN TED MULLIN "HOUR OF POWER" RELAY

Weston, Mass.-The Regis College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams will participate in the Fourth Annual Ted Mullin "Leave it in the Pool" Hour of Power Relay on Nov. 10.

The "Hour of Power" relay is in honor of Carleton College swimmer Ted Mullin, who died in 2006 from sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer.

The practice consists of continuous relays, any stroke, all-out swimming, for one hour. It is the hope that participating teams will hold the "Hour of Power" practice on Nov. 10 and time across each time zone (5 p.m. Eastern, 4 p.m. Central or 5 p.m. Mountain, and 4 p.m. Pacific).

It is being asked that participating teams gather pledges and donations for the Ted Mullin Fund for Sarcoma Research at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital.

The "Hour of Power" relay was first held in 2006, with 15 teams participating, then grew to 104 teams in 2008 where more than 6,000 student-athletes participated.

The Ted Mullin Fund has raised more than $110,000 to date.

As of Oct. 19, schools across NCAA Divisions I-III, high schools from around the United States, national swim clubs, and swim teams from Namibia and Australia will participate in this year's relay.
