PRIDE FALL TO TERRIERS 2-1

Weston, Mass.---The Regis College women's field hockey team lost to Thomas College Tuesday (Sept. 14) by the score of 2-1. The Pride were down 2-0 for most of the game but continued to play tough defense against the Terriers.  Scoring for the Terriers were Kellie Martel (Cambridge, Maine) and Kristin Manessa (Montville, Maine). Terrier's senior goalkeeper Megan Denby (Copiague, NY) held the Pride scoreless in the first half.

At the end of the first half the Terriers controlled the lead by two goals. The Pride's defense was led by freshman goalkeeper Morgan Mitchell (Ashburnham, Mass./Oakmont Regional) who stepped up in the second half by not allowing the Terriers to score. The Pride got their offense rolling late in the second half, when freshman Candace Ferry (Malden, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) scored on a pass from junior Meghan Robohm (North Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) to make the score 2-1.

This late rally by the Pride was not enough to defeat the Terriers.  The Terriers were led in the second half by freshman goalkeeper Sophia Sourgiadakis (Littleton, NH.) who continued to play well even after letting up the late tally by the Pride. The Pride continued to play hard in the second half by increasing their shots on goal

The Pride host Daniel Webster College Wednesday (Sept. 15) at 7:15 pm.  The Terriers next contest is Friday (Sept. 17) against Mercy College at 4:00 pm.
