Robert Nelson joins the Regis coaching staff in the fall of 2016 as the assistant coach of the men’s basketball team.

Robert comes to Regis having served the last two seasons as the assistant coach at Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. As part of his responsibilities at Pine Manor, he acted as an academic mentor for his players and helped the team achieve the highest team GPA at the college.

Robert also took over as head coach of the women’s basketball team at Pine Manor midway through the season. The Gators won 12 of 17 games under Robert to close out the season at 13-14 after he inherited the team with a 1-9 record. His success earned him the Association of Division III Independents Coach of the Year.

As an undergraduate, Robert played two seasons on the basketball team at Keystone College in La Plume, Pa. The team appeared in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship game in both of his seasons as a Giant, and Robert took home the CSAC men’s basketball Sportsmanship Award in the 2012-13 season.

Robert graduated from Keystone with a bachelor’s degree in communications in 2013. He is enrolled in the organizational and professional communication graduate program at Regis.
