2023 GNAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Coaching Staff of the Year & 2023 GNAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coaching Staff of the Year

Ben Colello enters his third year as the head coach of the Regis College cross country and track & field program in 2023-24.

The 2022-23 academic year was a banner one for Colello, starting with a second place finish for the women's cross country team at the 2022 GNAC Championships that featured four Pride runners finishing in the top 10. The women's track and field team won the 2023 GNAC Indoor Championships and finished second at the 2023 GNAC Outdoor Championships, while the men's track and field team placed second in both competitions. During the track and field season, seven indoor school records and seven outdoor school records were broken.

Led by three All-GNAC performances, the Regis women's cross country team finished third and the men's squad placed fourth at the 2021 GNAC Cross Country Championships. In 2022, the Pride won six individual conference championships and one relay league title at the GNAC Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships, plus produced several All-GNAC efforts.

After stints at both Harvard University and Regis College as an assistant coach, Colello helped lead the Pride cross country and track and field programs on an interim basis during the 2020-21 academic year. Colello coached those student-athletes within the sprints, hurdles, jumps, and distance events, guiding them through meaningful on-campus practice activities that culminated in two exhibition meets in early April. Colello also played a major role in recruiting prospective student-athletes to Regis, resulting in a significant number of deposits.

In 2019-20, Colello assisted with the Regis cross country program as it enjoyed success, with the women winning the Endicott Invitational and seniors Maggie Mann and JJ Pedersen setting new school records. He oversaw the sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers during the indoor track and field season, culminating in GNAC titles for Nicholas Pastore in the 60 meter dash and long jump and Olivia Juneau in the 400 meter dash.

Colello was a multi-sport event specialist for the Dartmouth College track and field team from 2014 to 2018. He competed in seven Ivy League Championship events, earning Second Team All-Ivy League honors three times, including in both the javelin and the decathlon during the 2018 Ivy League Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He still holds the fourth-longest javelin throw (66.06 meters) and the sixth-highest decathlon point total in Dartmouth history (7,198 points).

After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental studies from Dartmouth in June 2018, Colello served as a volunteer assistant coach at Harvard University during the 2018-19 season, helping student-athletes in the pole vault, high jump, javelin, and decathlon. Most recently, he completed his master's degree in strategic sports communication from Regis College.
