Cross Country Back in Action at Franklin Park

BOSTON - The Regis College cross country team returned to action Saturday at the 55th annual Codfish Bowl Cross Country Meet, hosted by USATF New England at Franklin Park.

Elizabeth Stevenson (Scituate, Mass.) finished first among the Regis women, completing the five-kilometer course in 23:26, just ahead of teammate Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) with a time of 23:27. Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) crossed the finish line next for the Pride, posting a time of 23:47.

Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished the race with a time of 24:51, followed by Olivia Rosano (Methuen, Mass.) in 25:25 and Annabelle Jean-Philippe (Randolph, Mass.) in 25:31. Among all NCAA collegiate teams, the Regis women ended up in ninth place with 276 points, ahead of conference rivals Emmanuel and Simmons.

The men completed an eight-kilometer event for the first time this season, led by Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) who finished 84th overall with a time of 28:53. Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) completed the race in 119th place overall with a time of 29:35.

Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) posted a personal best time of 36:59 over eight kilometers. In his first collegiate eight-kilometer race, Kederson Pierre (Everett, Mass.) finished the course with a time of 41:53.

Regis College heads to Keene, N.H., next Saturday, Sept. 30, for the Keene State Invitational at the Owl Athletic Complex, with the women's five-kilometer race starting at 11 a.m. followed by the men's eight-kilometer event at 12 p.m.
