Regis Women’s Cross Country Back in Action at Keene State Invitational

KEENE, N.H. - The Regis women's cross country team returned to competition Saturday morning at the Keene State College Invitational held at the Owl Athletic Complex.

Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) led the Pride women with a sixth place finish, completing the five-kilometer course in 18:49.2. Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) crossed the finish line close behind, ending up in eighth place with a season-best time of 19:02.6, 1/100th of a second off her collegiate-best five-kilometer mark established one year ago at the Bruce Kirsh Cup.

Madelyn Klein (Framingham, Mass.) cut 50 seconds off her previous best five-kilometer time set two weeks ago, finishing in 36th place overall with a time of 20:32.4. Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) also posted a collegiate-best time, completing the race in 62nd place with a time of 21:59.3.

Finishing in 69th place, Elizabeth Stevenson (Scituate, Mass.) posted a time of 22:17.6, over 15 seconds quicker than her previous collegiate-best mark, while Annabelle Jean-Philippe (Randolph, Mass.) basically matched her collegiate-best time, crossing the finish line in 80th place in 22:39.9.

Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished 48 seconds quicker than her previous personal five-kilometer best time at 23:38.0, and Jessie Heath (Abington, Mass.) completed her first collegiate competition with a time of 33:48.3.

As a team, the Pride finished in eighth place with 174 points, ahead of fellow conference members Emmanuel, Norwich, Rivier, Lasell, and Dean. With three runners in the top five, Brandeis cruised to the team title, and Rachel Brennan of Gordon earned medalist honors with a winning time of 18:16.4.

Regis College will next compete in two weeks at the Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston Saturday, Oct. 15, starting at 1:30 p.m.
