Pride Cross Country Starts 2022 Season at Wellesley Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2022 competition season at the Wellesley College Invitational, held at the Nehoiden Golf Course.

Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) led the Pride women with an eighth place finish overall in a time of 19:30.7, followed by Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) in 11th place with a time of 20:10.2. In her first career collegiate competition, Madelyn Klein (Framingham, Mass.) posted a time of 22:37.3 over the five-kilometer course, ending up in 28th place.

Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) cut almost 50 seconds off her time from last year's event, establishing a personal best for five kilometers at 22:55.7. Annabelle Jean-Philippe (Randolph, Mass.) also earned a new 5K personal best by 10 seconds with a time of 24:13.6, followed closely by Elizabeth Stevenson (Scituate, Mass.) at 24:27.9. Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) completed the course in 25:05.6, and Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished in 27:02.9.

On the men's side, Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) was the team's top finisher for the eighth time in as many career meets, finishing 12th overall with a time of 18:41.5. Michael Carroll (Lynn, Mass.) crossed the finish line next for the Pride with a time of 20:30.4, followed by Tal Rozamus (Chelmsford, Mass.) in 20:48.2. AJ Corso (Broad Brook, Conn.) completed the five-kilometer course in 21:38.1, just ahead of Brett Kiesel (Rocky Hill, Conn.) with a time of 21:56.8.

The Regis College cross country team will head west next Saturday, Sept. 10, for the Smith College Invitational in Northampton, Mass., starting at 10 a.m.
