Regis Cross Country Assists with Local Race

MALDEN, Mass. – Just one day after competing at the Pop Crowell Invitational, the Regis College cross country team came together and volunteered at the Donna Froio DeLena Memorial 5K Run/Walk Sunday morning, Sept. 23, at Forestdale Park.

The event was held in honor of Donna Froio DeLena after she passed away from cancer at a young age. Froio DeLena is the aunt of Pride track and field student-athlete Cassandra Froio (Tewksbury, Mass.). Proceeds from the event will provide funding for the Donna Froio DeLena Memorial Scholarship Fund, providing scholarships to a deserving Malden High School Band member.

The members of the Pride cross country team were spread out along the course, helping to direct runners on the correct route as well as providing water at various points along the way. This is the second time that the Regis cross country team has volunteered at this annual event.

The Regis cross country team heads to Standish, Maine, for the Runnin' Monks Invitational Saturday, Oct. 6, hosted by Saint Joseph's College starting at 11 a.m.
