Aleyo Amasa-Titus Named GNAC Rookie of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – For the third time this season, Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Track and Field Rookie of the Week, announced Monday afternoon, Jan. 22, by the league office.

At the Branwen Smith-King Invitational hosted by Tufts University this past Saturday, Amasa-Titus was part of two relay school records and nearly broke an individual school record during the meet. First, she anchored Regis' 4x200 meter relay, teaming with Abby Kilbride (Peabody, Mass.), Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.), and Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) to post an overall time of 1:52.67, 9/10ths of a second faster than the previous standard established by the same foursome at the Suffolk Relays Dec. 2, 2023.

Amasa-Titus would move on to two individual events, first finishing fifth overall in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.65 seconds, just 6/100ths of a second off the school record. She also led the Pride and finished 10th overall in the long jump with a mark of 4.69 meters (15' 4.75").

Capping off the meet in the 4x400 meter relay, Amasa-Titus led off the race for the Pride before the baton was passed to her sister Janet Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) as well as to Annabelle Jean-Philippe (Randolph, Mass.) and Curran. The quartet combined for an overall time of 4:25.20, 14/100ths of a second faster than the previous standard set Feb. 23, 2019.

With four weeks to go before the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 18, Aleyo Amasa-Titus is first on the GNAC performance list in the 200 meter dash as well as second in the 60 meter dash, 400 meter dash, and long jump. She previously received GNAC Rookie of the Week honors Dec. 4 and Jan. 8 as well as GNAC Female Track Athlete of the Week recognition Jan. 8 and Jan. 15.

The Regis College track and field team heads south for the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational Saturday, Jan. 27, starting at 10 a.m. at Bacon Field House in Middletown, Conn.
