Aleyo Amasa-Titus, Anastazia Copeland Repeat in GNAC Weekly Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – For the second straight week, the Regis College women's track and field team is represented in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards, as Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) was named GNAC Female Track Athlete of the Week and Anastazia Copeland (West Hartford, Conn.) repeated as GNAC Female Field Athlete of the Week, announced Monday afternoon, Jan. 15, by the league office.

Amasa-Titus finished second in the 400 meter dash at the Reggie Poyau Invitational Saturday at Brandeis University, posting a time of 1:04.09. She is now second on the GNAC performance list in the 400 meter dash as well as first in both the 60 meter dash and 200 meter dash. Also Saturday, she anchored the 4x400 meter relay to a fifth place finish with a split of 1:04.88 resulting in an overall time of 4:37.03.

For the second straight week, Copeland finished second in the weight throw, posting a career-best mark of 13.80 meters (45' 3.5") Saturday at the Reggie Poyau Invitational. It was 0.16 meters further than her previous best mark established last year at Tufts. Copeland is now atop the GNAC performance list in the weight throw by 1.18 meters.

The Regis College track and field team returns to action Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational, hosted by Tufts University at the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center in Medford, Mass., starting at 10 a.m.
