Women’s Track and Field Posts Numerous Personal Records at Home Meet

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's track and field team created positive momentum heading into next weekend's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Championships by winning the overall title at the Regis Pre-Conference Meet Saturday at Regis Stadium.

Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) won the 5000 meter run by 22 seconds with a time of 18:55.08, while Madelyn Klein (Framingham, Mass.) finished fifth with a personal collegiate-best time of 20:09.11 and Elizabeth Stevenson (Scituate, Mass.) also produced a collegiate-best time of 22:04.04 to finish sixth. In the 1500 meter run, Elisa D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) finished second in 5:34.10, followed by Annabelle Jean-Philippe (Randolph, Mass.) in fourth in 5:46.94 and Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) in sixth in 6:16.61.

The Pride went 2-3-4 in both the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash, as Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.) placed second in the 200 meter dash in 29.35 seconds, followed by Abby Kilbride (Peabody, Mass.) in third in 29.50 seconds and Lily Belschner (Revere, Mass.) in fourth in 30.56 seconds. In the 400 meter dash, Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished second in 1:09.46, just ahead of Jean-Philippe in third in 1:09.95 and Dench in fourth in 1:09.97.

Emily Aho (Pelham, N.H.) finished first in the triple jump with a collegiate-best mark of 9.53 meters (31' 3.25"), with Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) placing second with her own collegiate-best mark of 9.23 meters (30' 3.5"). Aho also finished in a tie for third in the high jump after clearing 1.30 meters (4' 3.25").

Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) shaved almost 20 seconds off her previous best time in the 3000 meter steeplechase, finishing second in 13:07.29. Ashleigh Kelley also finished third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:31.79.

In the throwing events, Tori Bradley (Dracut, Mass.) placed second in the hammer throw with a collegiate-best mark of 36.76 meters (120' 7"), followed by Maddy Robertson (Athol, Mass.) in third place at 34.51 meters (113' 3") and Claudia Sevi (Sharon, Mass.) in sixth place at 33.20 meters (108' 11"), both personal collegiate-best marks. Bradley also finished third in the discus throw with a collegiate-best mark of 30.36 meters (99' 7").

Kristin Barrett (Plymouth, Mass.) finished third in the shot put with a mark of 9.81 meters (32' 2.25"), followed by Pilar Brown (Rockland, Mass.) in fourth at 9.47 meters (31' 1") and Allie Sanidas (Ipswich, Mass.) in fifth at 9.37 meters (30' 9"). Alayja Linton (Nashua, N.H.) posted a collegiate-best mark of 25.93 meters (85' 1") in the javelin throw to end up in fifth place.

As a team, the Regis women compiled 209.5 points, comfortably ahead of Framingham State with 132 points. After the meet, the Pride seniors were recognized for their contributions to the program, including Belschner, Caroline Bond (Pelham, N.H.), Bradley, Anastazia Copeland (West Hartford, Conn.), Sarah Ferguson (Holden, Mass.), Mikayla Francois (Walpole, Mass.), Katie Kelley, Klein, Parker, Sanidas, and Sevi.

The Regis College track and field team heads to Standish, Maine, for the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Saint Joseph's College next weekend, April 29 and 30.
