Shyann Teixeira Kellam Named to GNAC WTEN All-Sportsmanship Team

WINTHROP, Mass. - Shyann Teixeira Kellam (Boston, Mass.), a first-year member of the Regis College women's tennis team, has been selected to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Tennis All-Sportsmanship Team as the league office announced the major postseason awards for the sport Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Teixeira Kellam played singles during all seven matches the Pride competed in during the fall, mostly in the number five position. She also teamed with Jaimy Gomez and picked up an 8-6 victory at the number three doubles spot against Albertus Magnus College Oct. 8.

"Shyann was new to tennis this year, and her enthusiasm among her teammates and focus have been cornerstones to our team," Pamela Swords, head women's tennis coach at Regis College, said. "Shyann has a wonderful light-hearted way of making every practice fun and more like a gathering than a chore. We are very lucky that she joined us this year and are very pleased at how she has progressed this season."

For the fourth year in a row, Colby-Sawyer College won the GNAC Women's Tennis Tournament, defeating University of Saint Joseph, 5-0, last Saturday, Oct. 19, in New London, N.H. With the victory, the Chargers earn the league's automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships, which will be held in the spring.

Regis College sponsors 19 intercollegiate sports, including women's tennis, within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
