Women’s Tennis Unable to Break Through in GNAC Opener

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College lost to Simmons University, 9-0, Wednesday evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's tennis match at the Regis Tennis Courts.

In doubles, Harmony Lopez (Carlsbad, N.M.) and Akshita Duvvuri (Chennai, India) battled Julia Perconti and Amoli Vad in the number one position before the Sharks prevailed, 8-2.

At number four singles, Alexandra Nicholls-Millen (Natick, Mass.) stayed with Grace Burke in the first set, but Burke eventually pulled away for a straight set victory (6-3, 6-1).

Regis College (0-4, 0-1 GNAC) heads to West Hartford, Conn., to face University of Saint Joseph Saturday, Sept. 21, starting at 12 p.m. Simmons University (3-4, 1-2 GNAC) hosts Clark University at the Daly Field Athletic Complex Friday, Sept. 20, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
