Jack Anastopoulos Takes Over as Head Coach of Regis Women’s Tennis

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's tennis team enters the 2023 competition season as one of the favorites within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with Jack Anastopoulos taking over as head coach of the program.

Anastopoulos served as the interim head coach during the spring 2023 semester and led the Pride to victories over Salve Regina and Curry. Those victories allowed the program to reach double digits in wins for the 10th consecutive season with a 10-3 overall record in 2022-23.

"I am thrilled that Jack will join us as the head women's tennis coach moving forward," Pam Roecker, Dean of Athletics, said. "He did a tremendous job on an interim basis last spring. He is a great instructor and an excellent communicator, and he is building a positive culture on the team that will lead the Pride as we once again challenge for the GNAC title."

Prior to joining the Regis College tennis program in the fall of 2022 as an assistant coach, Jack played fourth singles and second doubles for the Springfield College Pride. After graduating from Springfield College in the spring of 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in sport management, Anastopoulos took on the head coaching role at Ludlow High School. In his time with the Lions, he led Ludlow to a 10-6 record and their first state tournament appearance in over 10 years.

Anastopoulos also serves as the Head of Events and Operations/Tennis Professional at the Wightman Tennis Center in Weston, Mass., and as a teaching professional for Net Results in Brookline, Mass. He is Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Level 1 Certified as well as certified in the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Safe Play program.

Regis received two first place votes and 21 points overall to finish second in the 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Tennis Preseason Poll. Defending GNAC champion Colby-Sawyer College collected the other three first place votes and 23 points overall to end up atop the poll, followed by the Pride, Simmons, University of Saint Joseph, and Albertus Magnus.

The GNAC has completed its announcement of the preseason polls for the fall team sports. Regis College finished fifth in the preseason polls for both women's soccer and women's volleyball and 10th in the preseason polls for men's soccer and field hockey.

Regis College is a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) within NCAA Division III, currently celebrating its 50th anniversary.
