WESTON, Mass. - Coming off consecutive appearances in the title match of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament, the Regis College women's tennis team has named Stephanie Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.), Samantha Gevry (Dudley, Mass.), and Kiana Thompson (Boynton Beach, Fla.) as captains for the 2023-24 season as well as announced the fall 2023 competition schedule.

Entering her senior year, Beatrice has won 15 singles matches and 20 doubles sets during her collegiate career, including a 7-3 record in number three singles and a 9-2 mark in number two doubles during the 2022-23 season. Gevry, now a junior, has posted impressive records of 20-8 (.714) in singles and 21-9 (.700) in doubles so far in her collegiate career, receiving Second Team All-GNAC recognition in singles twice. Last year, she went 9-1 in singles and 11-1 in doubles to help the Pride to their 10th consecutive double-digit win total. A nursing major, Gevry received College Sports Communicators Academic All-District and Academic All-GNAC honors for her performance in the classroom.

Thompson accumulated numerous awards in her first year of collegiate competition, earning GNAC Player of the Year, GNAC Rookie of the Year, and Regis Outstanding Female First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year accolades. She was a perfect 10-0 in singles and, teaming with Gevry, 10-1 in doubles during the 2022-23 campaign to lead the Pride to the championship match of the GNAC Tournament, earning GNAC All-Tournament honors in the process. Rising into her sophomore year, Thompson is majoring in business management.

The Pride will open their fall 2023 schedule with a home match against Bridgewater State Friday, Sept. 1, followed by road contests at Roger Williams Thursday, Sept. 7, and at Salve Regina Monday, Sept. 11.

The conference schedule begins with a home match against Simmons Wednesday, Sept. 20. Regis will also host Albertus Magnus Wednesday, Sept. 27, and University of Saint Joseph as part of Regis Fest Saturday, Sept. 30. The GNAC slate concludes at defending GNAC champion Colby-Sawyer Wednesday, Oct. 4.

The top four teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the GNAC Tournament, with the semifinals scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, followed by the championship match Saturday, Oct. 21. Last season, Colby-Sawyer defeated Regis, 5-1, to win the conference tournament and qualify for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament.

Regis College completed the 2022-23 season with a 10-3 overall record, including a 5-1 mark within the GNAC to end up in second place in the regular season standings. Jack Anastopoulos enters his first full year as head coach of the Pride after taking over the helm last spring and leading the team to victories over Salve Regina and Curry.
