Regis Women’s Tennis Unable to Rally Past Cobbers

ORLANDO, Fla. – Regis College fell behind early and could not catch up, losing to Concordia-Moorhead College, 6-3, Thursday afternoon in a non-conference women's collegiate tennis match at the USTA National Campus.

After the Cobbers took the first point of the match with an 8-3 victory at number two doubles, Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) teamed up for an 8-5 win at number one doubles to tie the contest at 1-1. Concordia-Moorhead pulled ahead 2-1 with an 8-4 victory at number three doubles.

The Cobbers would clinch the match by winning four consecutive singles contests in straight sets. At number two singles, Lauren Mogelnicki won the first set, lost the second set, and then prevailed in a super-tiebreaker, 10-3, to pick up the Pride's second point of the day (6-4, 2-6, 1-0).

The third point for Regis came at number five singles as Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) won two hard-fought sets, including a close 7-5 decision in the first set tiebreaker, to defeat her opponent in straight sets (7-6, 7-5).

Regis College (7-9) wraps up the Spring Break trip to Florida with a match against Calvin University Saturday, March 5, starting at 9 a.m.
