Regis College Well-Represented on Women’s Tennis All-GNAC Teams

WINTHROP, Mass. – Coming off a third place finish in the regular season standings and a trip to the championship match of the league tournament, the Regis College women's tennis team is represented by four players on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Teams for the fall 2021 season, announced Thursday by the league office.

Senior Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) leads the Pride contingent as she was voted First Team All-GNAC in singles by the league coaches for the second time in her career. Playing in the number one singles position all season, Mogelnicki posted a 5-1 record in conference play, winning all five matches in straight sets. During the regular season, she defeated JuJu Oliver of Albertus Magnus and Olga Zhizhin of Simmons, also voted First Team All-GNAC in singles.

Three other Regis players received recognition as Second Team All-GNAC in singles. Senior Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) split time between number five singles and number six singles, finishing with a 7-4 overall record, including a 4-2 mark in regular season league play. She clinched the team's GNAC Tournament first round match against Albertus Magnus.

In her first year with the program, Samantha Gevry (Dudley, Mass.) made an immediate impact for the Pride, posting a 5-1 singles record in league competition. She was named GNAC Rookie of the Week on two occasions, first on Sept. 20 after victories over Salem State and Albertus Magnus, and then again on Oct. 18 as she helped Regis advance to the finals of the GNAC Tournament.

Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) capped her senior season with Second Team All-GNAC honors in singles, going 5-1 in regular season league play from the number two singles position. Overall, she posted a 7-2 singles mark and nearly added an eighth victory, as she was just one game away from winning her singles match during the semifinals of the GNAC Tournament before the match was stopped.

In addition, Lauren Mogelnicki was chosen as Regis' representative on the GNAC Women's Tennis All-Sportsmanship Team. GNAC champion Colby-Sawyer swept the major awards, and Lesley University received the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Regis College posted a 7-5 overall record, including a 4-2 mark in regular season GNAC play.
