Women’s Tennis Closes Regular Season with 9-0 Sweep

ARLINGTON, Mass. – Regis College closed out its regular season fall schedule with a 9-0 victory over Lesley University Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's tennis contest at the Sky Pond Tennis Courts.

The three Pride doubles duos lost just two games combined in jumping out to a 3-0 lead. The number three doubles team of Samantha Gevry (Dudley, Mass.) and Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) did not drop a game in winning their set, 8-0, while Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) at number one doubles and Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) and Stephanie Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.) at number two doubles each earned 8-1 decisions.

FitzPatrick finished her match first in straight sets without losing a game (6-0, 6-0), followed by Beatrice with the same score to clinch the overall contest for the Pride. Colby was the third Regis player to sweep her singles match without losing a game, while both Lauren Mogelnicki and Gevry dropped just one game apiece and Katelyn Mogelnicki also picked up a straight-set victory.

With the victory, Regis finishes in third place in the final GNAC regular season standings with a 4-2 league record. The Pride will host a first round match in the GNAC Tournament this Wednesday, Oct. 13, with the entire tournament rundown expected to be announced by the league office later this weekend.
