Regis Tennis Wins Fourth Straight Match

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College extended its winning streak to four matches with a 9-0 victory over University of Saint Joseph Wednesday evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's tennis contest at the Regis Tennis Courts.

Stephanie Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.) and Samantha Gevry (Dudley, Mass.) gave Regis its first point of the day with an 8-0 victory in the third doubles position. The other two doubles sets went to tiebreakers, as first Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) rallied from an early deficit to pull out a victory at second doubles, 8-7 (9-7). Then Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) earned a victory at first doubles, 8-7 (7-2), to give the Pride a 3-0 advantage heading into singles.

FitzPatrick did not lose a game to win at the sixth singles position in straight sets (6-0, 6-0), and Colby followed with her own straight-set win (6-1, 6-0) at number five singles to clinch the overall match for the Pride. Beatrice, Gevry, and both Mogelnicki sisters completed their victories in straight sets to conclude the evening and give Regis its third conference win of the season.
