Senior Spotlight – Women’s Tennis

We at GoRegisPride.com are in the midst of recognizing the Regis College seniors in men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field. These articles will be posted close to the date of the respective teams' scheduled senior ceremonies.

The Regis College women's tennis team would like to recognize senior Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) for four years of significant contributions to the program. McCormack helped the Pride post a 51-21 (.708) dual match record as well as to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship in 2016 and three consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament appearances.

ARIANA McCORMACK

As a freshman, Ariana was voted NECC Rookie of the Year as well as First Team All-NECC in both singles and doubles (with Jessie Lord) after posting an 11-2 singles record, starting in the third position before moving up to the second spot, and a 14-4 doubles mark at number one doubles in dual matches plus three victories alongside Katasha Jarvis to win the UMass Boston Beacons Invitational April 17, 2017.

As the program moved into the GNAC in 2017-18, she compiled a 10-2 singles record and an 8-4 doubles mark to help the squad finish in second place in the regular season league standings.

In her junior season, Ariana once again reached double figures in singles victories with 10, including a 5-2 record at number one singles. She teamed with Jarvis for eight doubles wins in 2018-19 as the twosome became the program's all-time winningest doubles team with 23 career victories.

Ariana completed her collegiate career with eight singles victories and eight doubles victories in 2019-20, earning Second Team All-GNAC honors in singles and teaming with Carly Donovan for Second Team All-GNAC recognition in doubles. The veterans won eight contests in the number one doubles position, including four 8-0 victories and three sets with an 8-1 score.

Overall, Ariana compiled a 39-18 (.684) record in singles and a 38-24 (.613) mark in doubles. She is sixth in program history in career singles victories and tied for fourth in career doubles wins.

In the classroom, Ariana has maintained a grade point average of over 3.9 as she is closing in on her bachelor's degree in communications and criminal justice. A two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, she has served as Regis Student Government Association President during the 2019-20 academic year, plus she has volunteered time with Regis College Campus Ministry, at the Regis College Hospitality Center, and as part of the Volley Against Violence partnership with the Boston Police Department.

Ariana's leadership, skills, and determination will be missed by her coaches and teammates within the Pride tennis program. She is planning on becoming a correctional program officer, working in the prison system in some capacity before continuing her education in law school.
