Women’s Tennis Wins Non-Conference Road Match

WORCESTER, Mass. – Regis College returned to its winning ways, defeating Clark University 8-1 in a non-conference women's collegiate tennis match Thursday at the Corash Tennis Courts.

The Pride swept the doubles sets, starting with an 8-1 victory by Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) and Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) in the number one position. The doubles team of Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) picked up an 8-4 win at number three doubles, and the duo of Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.) and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) completed the sweep with an 8-5 win at number two doubles.

Donovan cruised to a straight-set victory at number one singles (6-0, 6-2) for Regis' fourth point of the match, and then McCormack clinched the contest for the Pride with a straight-set win at number two singles (6-2, 6-0). Katelyn Mogelnicki also lost just two games in her victory at number three singles (6-1, 6-1), while Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) put together a solid effort in winning at number six singles (6-3, 6-1).

Boodakian won the first set of her match at number five singles, 6-1, but then dropped the second set and lost a close super-tiebreaker, 10-7. Lauren Mogelnicki completed the day with a straight-set win at number four singles (6-3, 6-4).

Regis (6-2) faces University of Saint Joseph at Hall High School in West Hartford, Conn. Saturday, Oct. 5, beginning at 12 p.m. The Pride's final regular season home match of the fall takes place next Thursday, Oct. 10, against Worcester State starting at 3:30 p.m., one hour earlier than originally scheduled.
