KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) became Regis College's winningest doubles team as the two upperclassmen led the Pride to a 7-2 victory over Concordia College of Minnesota Thursday in a non-conference women's tennis contest at the Star Island Resort.
Regis won two of the three doubles sets, starting at number two doubles as Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) remained undefeated as a duo, improving to 9-0 this season with an 8-2 victory. In the number one doubles position, Jarvis and McCormack battled to an 8-6 win to give the Pride the lead for good.
It is the 19th career doubles win for Jarvis and McCormack, passing the previous mark of 18 wins set by Jarvis and Emily Rice. Jarvis also moves into second place on the Regis all-time list for most doubles wins as an individual with 45, passing Jesse Lord and now sitting behind only Rice, who accumulated 54 doubles wins during her Pride career.
McCormack earned Regis' first singles win of the day, not losing a game as she won in straight sets at number two singles. After Mogelnicki completed her straight-set win at number four singles, Donovan clinched the match for the Pride at number one singles, pulling out the victory by taking the super-tiebreaker, 10-7.
Jarvis earned her 48th career singles win, most in program history, with a straight-set victory at number three singles. At number six singles, Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.) continued her strong play, picking up the final point of the day for Regis, rallying from a first-set loss to win the second set and the super-tiebreaker, 10-1.
Regis (10-5) concludes the Spring Break trip Friday, March 8, against Piedmont at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., starting at 6:30 p.m. The Pride will have two weeks before starting a four-match homestand against Emerson Friday, March 22, at 3 p.m., with a Senior Day presentation honoring Jarvis taking place that day.
