WINTHROP, Mass. – After leading Regis College to road conference victories over Suffolk and Simmons, sophomore Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week, and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) has received GNAC Rookie of the Week honors, announced Monday by the league office.

Coming together as Regis's number two doubles team starting with the St. Joseph contest on Sept. 15, Donovan and Mogelnicki extended their winning streak to three matches over the past week. The duo picked up Regis's only doubles point against Suffolk with an 8-6 victory last Wednesday, followed by an 8-3 win over Simmons's number two doubles squad Saturday.

Donovan has won all five singles matches she has played so far this season, first maintaining her perfect record with a straight-set victory over Suffolk's Ilda Ascic at number two singles Wednesday (6-2, 6-3). The 2017 GNAC Rookie of the Year extended her winning streak with another straight-set win Saturday over Marissa Johnson of Simmons (6-2, 6-4).

Mogelnicki entered the Pride's singles lineup in the fourth position and started the week with a straight-set win over Kendall Smith of Suffolk (6-1, 6-2). The first-year player then battled Simmons's Michelle Medici in a three-set contest Saturday, with Mogelnicki eventually coming out on top with a dominating third set (6-3, 4-6, 6-0).

These are the first weekly awards for the Regis women's tennis team this season and the first time a member of the Pride has been honored since Donovan earned her third Rookie of the Week award on Oct. 16, 2017.

Regis has won four straight matches to improve to 5-1 overall and is currently third in the GNAC standings with a 3-1 league mark. The Pride will host Albertus Magnus as a part of Regis Fest Saturday, Sept. 29, beginning at 12 p.m. at the Regis Tennis Center. The tennis program welcomes all alumni back for a doubles mixer Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
